All About Homophones

There are several things that make teaching the English language so difficult. One is that there are so many words that break the rules. Another is that we have many homophones, that is words that sound the same but are spelled differently, and of course have different meanings. Alot of spelling can be taught by learning rules, but homophones are one of those things that just have to be memorized. Well, in our house, we try to avoid tedious memorization and save it for things like Bible passages.

All About Homophones, by the folks who created All About Spelling, is an incredible tool kit to help your students learn and remember their homophones. In a very fun and engaging way, they present homophones through worksheets and activities so that your kids will remember them when they are writing. This is available as either an ebook ($27.95) or a printed book ($29.95). This product contains worksheets for 1st grade through 8th grade, introducing different homophones at the appropriate grade levels. It includes graphic organizers for better visual understanding, 101 homophone worksheets that your student will actually enjoying completing, and they will learn about homophones while playing classic card games like Snap! and Pig, crossword puzzles, riddles, tongue twisters and more.

If homophones are a challenge to your student (and most kids are challenged by these mystifying rule-breakers), consider purchasing either the ebook or the printed book to give your student the edge they will need to fully comprehend homophones. You won't be disappointed!

English language hard? Why would you think that? Could it possibly be because the farm was used to produce produce? Or because the soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert? Or maybe because you had to subject the subject to a series of tests?

Whatever the reason, I hope that your homophone study goes great!
